Public records and documents
Open to the public 24-hours a day, 7 days a week, our Records Section provides a myriad of services over the phone and in-person. This workgroup of essential employees works behind the scenes to support all other work groups within the Sheriff’s Office.
The Criminal Records Section is often the first stop for those with business needs at the Sheriff’s Office. Records specialists are our cashiers and process payments and deposits for jail accounts and bail.

Public records requests
One of the Records Section’s primary functions is to store, track, and retrieve crime related records from the initial report until the investigation is closed and fully prosecuted. Any requests for Sheriff’s Office records must be made at our Records Section.
The Records Section is responsible for determining if reports are releasable when they are requested by the public. Most of the information that the Sheriff’s Office stores is routinely available for a fee. Types of reports that may be available:
- Non-criminal accident reports
- Some property crimes reports
- Tow reports
- Basic information on arrested adults
- Basic information on juveniles taken into custody
- Sheriff's Office policies or procedures
Each report must be reviewed individually, there are exceptions under law that may restrict the release of some records. Restricted records may include cases currently under investigation, medical records, those protecting juveniles, or the security of Sheriff’s Office personnel. Some requests are not readily available without further approval. See our guidelines for releasing information. Some reports may also have past the retention period and no longer stored, contact the Records Section for more information on report availability and retention periods.
