House District 26 nominees seeking appointment from Washington, Clackamas and Yamhill county commissioners at June 6th Meeting

The meeting is being convened after the appointment of former Oregon House member Courtney Neron to the Oregon State Senate.

Washington County, Clackamas County and Yamhill county commissioners will hold an appointment meeting on Friday, June 6, at 6:30 p.m. to interview candidates and select a replacement for the State House District 26 open position.

The counties received the following list of nominees from the Oregon Democratic Party seeking the appointment. They are:

  • Chelsea King
  • Mary Pettenger
  • Sue Rieke Smith

Oregon law(Link is external) requires that a legislative vacancy be filled by county commissioners representing the district in which the vacancy exists. House District 26 includes voters in Clackamas, Washington and Yamhill counties. State law also requires anyone appointed to fill the vacancy must have been a member of the same political party as the resigning legislator for at least 180 days prior to the vacancy.

If members of the public wish to provide written comments about any of the nominees, please send them to Kevin Moss, Washington County Clerk to the Board, at [email protected] no later than 5 p.m. on Wednesday, June 4, to be included in the record.
