Art is a vital form of communication and empowerment, especially for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. It allows people to share their stories, showcase their talents, and engage in meaningful ways that go beyond words. The Washington County Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) Art Work Group seeks to provide program participants and staff with a welcoming space to connect and express themselves while developing and growing more local opportunities for both making and sharing art.
Inspired by the long-running Multnomah County I/DD Art Show and with guiding support from their Art Committee, we hope to bring a similar gallery experience to our own county and community. With their guidance, we’ve established an internal work group dedicated to fostering creativity, connection, and self-expression among program participants and staff.
Art Nights
Come make some art with us and participate in creating a collaborative community art project that will later be featured in our upcoming spring I/DD Art Show! All skill and interest levels are welcome. Participants will be guided on how to make their mark on the group project. All supplies will be provided.
We ask that any additional needed supports accompany the participant. We will not be staffed to offer 1:1 support.

Spring I/DD Art Show 2026
We are in the early stages of planning a community art show for 2026. This will be a day dedicated to celebrating creativity, showcasing the incredible talent of local artists, and bringing people together through art. Currently, we are planning to select a date between late April and early June. Check back for finalized dates, times and submission details as we continue to shape this special gathering.
Call for Art Donations
We are currently accepting art donations to showcase in our newly expanded Elam Young Parkway office space. This is a wonderful opportunity for artists within the I/DD community to share their work with the public, inspire creativity in our everyday environment, and be part of a growing collection that celebrates artistic expression. We’d love to feature your art!
