Washington County to Hold Public Meeting on Proposed Increase to Garbage and Recycling Collection Rates

The meeting will take place on Thursday, June 12, 10 a.m., at the Public Services Building auditorium, 155 N. First Avenue, Hillsboro. Any person may attend the meeting and provide comments to the Solid Waste Advisory Committee regarding the proposed rate changes.

The Washington County Solid Waste Advisory Committee will hold a public meeting to discuss recommended increases to residential and commercial garbage collection rates for residents and businesses in unincorporated Washington County.

The meeting will take place on Thursday, June 12, 10 a.m., at the Public Services Building auditorium, 155 N. First Avenue, Hillsboro.

Anyone may attend the meeting and provide comments to the Solid Waste Advisory Committee regarding the proposed rate changes. The public may also submit written comments via email to [email protected], or by mail to the Washington County Solid Waste & Recycling Program, 155 North First Avenue, Suite 160, Hillsboro OR 97124. Comments will be shared with the committee.

The nine members of the Solid Waste Advisory Committee are appointed by and make recommendations to the Board of Commissioners on solid waste and recycling policy and program issues. Six members represent the public while three represent the solid waste industry. A representative of the county’s Health and Human Services Department serves as a non-voting committee member. The committee typically meets the second Thursday of each month from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. at the Public Services Building in Hillsboro. Meeting agendas are posted to the web page listed above. The public is welcome to attend meetings.
