Today is the day to make your voice heard in the May 20, 2025, Special District Election. If you haven’t returned your ballot yet, there’s still time – but don’t wait! Washington County is home to more than 400,000 voters, yet in local elections like this one turnout averages just 25%. As of this morning, the county elections office has received about 60,0000 ballots – roughly 15% voter turnout. Officials are encouraging all remaining voters to return their ballots by the 8 p.m. cutoff tonight.
Key Election Day Reminders:
- Ballots must be received or postmarked by 8 p.m. to be accepted and counted. A stamp is not required to mail ballots via the United States Postal Service.
- There are 21 official ballot drop boxes located around Washington County and they will remain open until 8 p.m.
- Today, the elections office, located at 2925 NE Aloclek Dr, Hillsboro, OR 97124, is open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. to assist last minute voters.

Interpretation and translation services are available to voters who would like assistance in a language other than English. We have in-person Spanish interpretation available whenever our office is open, as well as telephone interpretation for many other languages. If you would like assistance with your ballot or would like to request help in a language other than English stop by the elections office before 8 p.m.
The first unofficial results for the Special District Election will be released shortly after 8 p.m. Updates for all ballots received and processed so far will be shared to the Washington County voter turnout webpage. Preliminary results will also be provided through the Secretary of State’s website.
Results will be posted on Washington County’s website the following dates and times:
- May 20, 2025, at 8:00 p.m.
- May 20, 2025, at 10:00 p.m.
- May 20, 2025, at midnight
- May 23, 2025, at 4:00 p.m.
- May 30, 2025, at 4:00 p.m.
- June 6, 2025, at 4:00 p.m.
- June 13, 2025, at 4:00 p.m.
Washington County Elections has until Monday, June 16, 2025, to complete the ballot counting process and certify the election with the Oregon Secretary of State’s Office. The official certified results will be available on the same webpage linked above.

Special Districts may sound distant, but they’re not. These elected boards oversee the services closest to home – your local library, your neighborhood fire station, your kids’ parks and with an expected low turnout, just a handful of votes can decide who leads them.
