Washington County is adjusting its passport service operations to better manage increased demand. Starting July 14, limited walk-in passport services will be available on Wednesdays, and appointments will be required for all other weekdays. Appointments may be scheduled online beginning June 30, 2025.
This change comes in response to a 25% increase in passport applications year to date, with an even greater surge expected in the coming months. With limited staffing and resources, the new scheduling system is designed to improve efficiency and better serve the growing number of residents seeking passport services.
New Walk-in Hours: Limited to 40 Customers Each Wednesday
Beginning July 14, walk-in passport services will only be offered on Wednesdays, from 9 to 11 a.m. and 2 to 4 p.m., with a limit of 20 walk-ins per time block (40 total per day).
Walk-in visitors will receive a number on a first-come, first-served basis, managed by a passport agent. To receive a number, individuals must meet all application requirements listed on the County’s website. Once capacity is reached, staff will provide information about alternate passport acceptance locations or encourage residents to return the following week or schedule an appointment.
How to Schedule a Passport Appointment
Residents can begin scheduling appointments online on June 30 for appointment times beginning July 14. Appointments can be made up to 14 days in advance.
To schedule, visit: www.washingtoncountyor.gov/at/passports.
Phone scheduling may be offered if appointments remain available, but online scheduling is strongly encouraged.
No Service Disruption – Just a New Process
Passport services and application acceptance procedures remain the same. Washington County’s Passport Acceptance Facility will continue to:
- Accept applications for new passports
- Renew passports that aren’t eligible for renewal by mail, and
- Assist with expedited passport applications.
Please note: The office does not provide passport photos, does not accept credit or debit cards and only accepts the form DS-11.
For questions about documents, forms, or federal processing times, visit the U.S. Department of State’s website or call the County’s passport information line at 503-846-3979.
Washington County appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation as this new scheduling system is implemented to better serve our growing community. For additional information, contact the Assessment and Taxation Department at 503-846-8741.
