Putting Safety Into Action: County Invites Community Input on Transportation Plan
Washington County is updating its Transportation Safety Action Plan (TSAP), which, once adopted, will serve as a strategic guide to improving transportation safety in Washington County.
Learn about and comment on proposed updates at the online open house available now through April 5.
The State of Countywide Safety
Between 2018 and 2022, Washington County experienced more than 1,100 fatal and serious injury crashes.
While the County has seen fewer deadly crashes per capita than nearby counties, the number of serious and fatal crashes has increased in recent years.
The proposed Transportation Safety Action Plan update identifies priority strategies to prevent and reduce the impact of these life-altering crashes. The plan analyzed five years of crash data and outlines high-impact policies, programs, and implementation strategies designed to reduce both the severity and number of crashes.
“Our community has seen shifts in how, when, and where the most serious crashes are happening,” said Dyami Valentine, Transportation Planning Section Manager at Washington County. “The proposed Transportation System Action Plan update will help us concentrate our efforts in the right places and monitor our progress so we can keep improving over time.”
