149th Avenue Pedestrian Improvements Online Open House Announced
Washington County is moving forward with improvements that will make walking along 149th Avenue safer and more connected. We're sharing our plans in an online open house.
Later this summer, crews will begin building a new section of sidewalk on the east side of 149th Avenue between Farmington Road and Watershed Lane. This work is part of the County’s ongoing Pedestrian and Biking Improvement Program, which focuses on creating safer routes for people of all ages and abilities.
Because there is no sidewalk along this stretch, the project will close a gap and create a continuous, accessible walking connection between Farmington Road and Division Street. The project also includes upgrades to stormwater drainage to better support the surrounding area. Construction will begin in late summer or early fall and continue into the winter months.
During construction, 149th Avenue will remain open for one-way southbound travel. Northbound drivers will be detoured onto SW 6th Street and Murray Boulevard to reach Farmington Road.
Community members are invited to learn more, ask questions, and share feedback by visiting the project’s online open house, available through April 10.
This work is funded by the County’s Road Fund, supported by state gas taxes and the county vehicle registration fee.
