Bridge Concepts Unveiled for Cornelius Pass Road and U.S. 26 Interchange

Washington County is seeking public feedback through an online open house on five design options for new bike and pedestrian bridges at the Cornelius Pass Road and U.S. 26 interchange.
Media release

Community members are invited to weigh in on five potential design options for future bike and pedestrian bridges at the Cornelius Pass Road and U.S. 26 interchange.

The survey is available through April 19 for the public to review the concepts and share their feedback.

The project proposes two bridges to improve safety and comfort for people walking, biking and rolling in Hillsboro. One bridge would cross Cornelius Pass Road just south of the interchange and connect to a second bridge spanning U.S. 26 on the east side of Cornelius Pass Road.

Together with planned trail connections, the bridges would link to the future Crescent Park Greenway to the west and the Oregon Electric Railway to the north. The enhanced trail network will provide access to nearby destinations, including schools, Hillsboro Stadium, parks, employment centers and neighborhoods.

The project is part of Metro’s Regional Trail System, developed by the Washington County Department of Land Use & Transportation in partnership with Oregon Department of Transportation, City of Hillsboro, Hillsboro Parks and Recreation and Tualatin Hills Parks and Recreation District (THPRD).

The current project includes early design, cost estimates and possible construction timelines. Additional funding will be needed to complete design and construction.

Interested community members can more through the online open house or visit the project webpage.
