Construction on the Century Boulevard Extension Projectwill begin in June, creating a new route between north and south Hillsboro, improving safety and mobility for travelers, neighbors, and Noble Woods Park-goers.
The project includes:
- A new bridge over Rock Creek, connecting Century Boulevard between Lois and Main Street
- Realignment of Century Boulevard between Lois and Borwick streets
- Enhanced street crossings with flashing beacons for safer access to transit, schools, and parks at:
- Borwick Street
- Dogwood Street
- Oelrich Street
- Improved sidewalks, bike lanes, streetlights, and storm drains
- A new center lane to allow drivers and cyclists to wait to turn more safely
The project team collaborated with wildlife and environmental experts to limit impacts to the wildlife corridor. During construction, a flood overflow channel will be created, and invasive plant species will be removed to improve the wetlands under the bridge. Native trees and shrubs will be planted in coordination with Hillsboro Parks & Recreation at the end of construction.
Park-goers and neighbors will notice construction noise on weekdays throughout the project. People should expect traffic delays on Century Boulevard between Lois and Borwick streets when the street is realigned with the future bridge.
Construction begins in June and is expected to end in spring 2028.
