Kaiser Road to Close for Summer Road Improvements

Construction on Kaiser Road is expected to continue from May 2026 through September 2027.
Media release

Kaiser Road will be closed between Springville Road and Brugger Road for construction from June 16 (updated)to August 16, 2026. The closure is needed to rebuild a dip in the road, raising the street about four feet.

Detour Information

Drivers should use the signed detour route via Germantown Road, 185th Avenue and Springville Road. Cyclists and pedestrians may use neighborhood routes.

Part of a Larger Project in a Growing Community

Kaiser Road is a key north–south connection that links neighborhoods, parks, trails, and schools throughout Bethany and North Bethany. Improvements to Kaiser Road will help create a safer, more complete walking and biking network while strengthening connections to Springville Road, where new facilities already support travel to parks, trails, and community destinations.

Planned improvements include:

Safer Walking and Biking Connections

  • Installation of new sidewalks and ADA-compliant curb ramps
  • Adding 9-foot buffered bike lanes
  • Building a midblock crossing with a flashing beacon and center island near the Tualatin Hills Park and Recreation District (THPRD) trail heads
  • Better Visibility and Predictable Travel Adding a center turn lane on Kaiser Road
  • Installing streetlights for improved nighttime visibility
  • Rebuilding a major dip in the road to improve sight distance and safety

Improved Infrastructure

  • Improving storm drainage and water quality facilities

This project will also add sidewalks on the north side of Brugger Road, between 158th Avenue and Kaiser Road, to provide a contiguous pedestrian path and improve overall connectivity.

The Kaiser Road project improves safety for pedestrians and cyclists, by connecting to recently completed improvements on Springville Road.

The project is funded through the North Bethany Service District for Roads, a special funding program to improve the roadway system in North Bethany.

The project’s full construction timeline begins in mid-May and is expected to continue through September 2027. Learn more about the project and road closure through an online open house.
