Washington County Invites Public Input on the Active Transportation Plan

Washington County is hosting an Online Open House through July 30, to learn what is working well, what isn’t, and where improvements are needed to help people get around safely and comfortably on foot, by bike, or using a mobility device.

Whether they currently rely on active transportation or are interested in travel options that don’t require a car, participants can share their current travel habits, the places they would like to walk, bike, or roll to, and the barriers that can make these trips difficult. This input will guide future County projects and policies that improve safety, support healthier lifestyles, reduce emissions, and increase access to opportunities.

The Active Transportation Plan is a long‑range effort to make Washington County a better place for people traveling by foot, bicycle, mobility device, or public transit. Public input gathered through the Online Open House will help shape a blueprint for pedestrian and bicycle networks that are comfortable, convenient, and accessible for everyone.

The updated plan will identify needs and priority projects to be included in the countywide Transportation System Plan, a 20‑year roadmap guiding transportation policies and investments for our growing and diverse communities.
