Media release

HILLSBORO, OR. – The Housing Authority of Washington County will open its first-ever Place-Based Housing Waitlist from 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 4, to 5:00 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 10, 2025. The waitlist will comprise both spots for the County’s Project-Based Vouchers and Public Housing units, streamlining the process for applicants. The housing authority strongly encourages low-income residents facing housing instability to apply.

The more effective waitlist utilizes a new “zone-based” system that breaks down Washington County into four regional locations: Forest Grove/Cornelius, Hillsboro, Beaverton/North of 26, and Tigard. This provides households with more choices of where to live, reduces overall vacancies, and supports efficient use of workforce time. Those interested in the housing assistance must apply through our online portal.

Individuals who require in-person assistance are welcome to visit our lobby, located at 161 NW Adams Ave., during our work hours Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Beaverton Library, located at 12375 SW 5th St, may also be able to help applicants. For more information on the waitlist and application process, people can visit our waitlist page.

“We know so many in our community are struggling to afford rent,” shared Rental Assistance Division Manager Liz Morris. “The Housing Authority of Washington County is eager to open our new and improved waitlist. Since our last waiting opening in 2023, we’ve made improvements to help applicants apply to more housing sites at one time. We hope the new zone-based method will improve the process for families, seniors, and other people in need of an affordable place to call home.”
