Welcome page for the Washington County, Oregon Department of Housing Services.

Nearly 50 years of providing and developing affordable housing opportunities in Washington County

Starting in 1970 with the creation of the Housing Authority of Washington County, the effort continues today in the Department of Housing Services. The Department of Housing Services was formed in 1992 to administer housing activities and programs of the County and the Housing Authority.

The mission of the Department of Housing Services is to provide a continuum of affordable housing options that promote community strength. Working in partnership with both the non-profit and the private sector, the Department of Housing Services combines traditional housing programs with economic opportunity to encourage self-sufficiency, skill enhancement and independence for program participants.

We offer rental assistance to low-income households through many programs and create affordable housing opportunities as a lead implementer of the Metro Affordable Housing Bond.

The department is the lead agency for "A Road Home: Community Plan to Prevent and End Homelessness" and the Supportive Housing Services measure. Continuum of Care and Supportive Housing Services work together using a housing-first approach to address homelessness throughout our community by removing barriers and aligning resources with the support of a wide array of crucial community partners.
