Visitors Guide

Essential information for first-time visitors to the Juvenile Department

Please check out the Juvenile Department homepage for more information and links.

Arriving at Our Department

  • Parking can be an issue so give yourself extra time. Most spots are two hours so prepare to move your car for a longer visit to avoid a ticket.
  • You will have to come through security when you arrive. Leave any mace, pocketknives, sharp objects, or perfume in your car.
  • The metal detector makes a loud noise. You will have to remove any metal items such as belts or many types of shoes to clear it. All items such as purses and bags will go through the scanner.
  • Please sign in at the front desk when you arrive. The receptionist will let your Juvenile Counselor know you are here. They may ask you to fill out some paperwork while you wait.
  • You may see armed law enforcement officers in our lobby as well as victims, witnesses, or co-defendants. You should avoid interacting with them if they are involved in you or your child's case.
  • An interpreter will be provided if needed.
  • Our lobby is small with two courtrooms nearby. Please try to keep voices low to avoid disturbing court.
