May 16-22 is National Public Works Week

National Public Works Week, May 16-22, is a week to educate, celebrate and increase the awareness of public works in creating great communities. Sponsored by the American Public Works Association, this year's theme is "Stronger Together." 

Washington County Department of Land Use & Transportation (LUT) will join many other public works agencies across the nation to raise awareness and recognize the important role public works services play in our daily lives.

“Nearly every LUT employee supports the planning, design, construction and maintenance of the county transportation system. The system supports our economy and connects us to the essential destinations where we live, work, learn and play,” said Stephen Roberts, Director, LUT. “These men and women have gone above and beyond this past year to serve our community, despite the challenges associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. Their hard work, combined with involvement from our community in helping to shape our transportation system makes us Stronger Together, and this week we celebrate those efforts.”

Washington County is committed to protecting the uses of the land and to building and maintaining a great transportation system, balancing care for the natural environment, economic development, safety and community livability.
