A 19-ton weight limit on the 205th Avenue bridge over Beaverton Creek was approved by the Washington County Board of Commissioners during its regular meeting today (April 20).

The restriction will protect the bridge for use by passenger vehicles, bicyclists, pedestrians and lighter-weight trucks.

Of Washington County’s 184 bridges, 13 are now weight limited.

Weight limits remain until bridges are repaired or replaced. The County’s weight-limited bridges are safe for vehicles not exceeding the posted weight limits. The limits for each bridge are unique, depending on structural integrity and condition. Enforcement of posted weight limits is provided by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office Motor Carrier Officers.
