We will replace the deteriorating culverts with new ones that will prevent damage to the road. We expect Gales Creek Road will close during construction.
The culverts will also be properly sized for the flow of White Creek and restore fish passage. This will provide a direct connection with Gales Creek, which is classified as critical fish habitat for winter steelhead. This project is being completed in partnership with the Tualatin Soil and Water Conservation District and has been identified as an important restoration action for salmon, steelhead, and Pacific lamprey by Tualatin River Watershed Council partners.
Construction start: Aug. 27, 2025
Construction finish: Oct. 9, 2025
Update
1/8/2026: To enhance resiliency, the County will install an additional culvert under Gales Creek Road, between Balm Grove Loop and Thornburg Road, from Jan. 20-Feb. 2.
