Washington County is partnering with TriMet, ODOT, Metro, and the cities of Hillsboro, Beaverton, Forest Grove, and Cornelius to upgrade bus service on Tualatin Valley (TV) Highway.
Line 57, which runs along the TV Highway corridor, has the highest ridership in Washington County, with around 6,400 daily trips on an average weekday as of spring 2025.
Communities along the corridor often express concerns, including safety and long bus commutes. TriMet's new bus service will offer faster travel times, enhanced bus waiting areas, and access to transit, providing connections to essential jobs, healthcare facilities, shopping centers, places of worship, and community services.
With TriMet FX®–Frequent Express, you can expect:
- Upgraded intersections at key locations to speed up buses, accommodate bus pullouts, and create more space between the bus stop and adjacent railroad tracks.
- Access to local and regional destinations through connections to two MAX lines, 10 other TriMet bus lines, WES commuter rail, Ride Connection, and other regional bus services.
- Faster travel times with buses arriving every 12 minutes, every day of the week, most hours of the day.
- Bus stations near safer crossings, with shelters, seating, lighting, and real-time bus arrival information.
- Longer, 60-foot, articulated buses with greater capacity and three doors and all-door boarding for briefer stops.
- Next-generation transit signal priority that will help buses move efficiently and make the ride faster and more reliable.
The FX line will serve many of the stops along today’s Line 57, with strategic stop consolidation to improve efficiency and to focus improvements in the areas where they are most needed.
The corridor is already home to thousands of families, and its population is expected to grow rapidly, making safe, reliable, and connected transit more critical than ever.
Route
The TV Highway Transit and Safety Project will connect Beaverton Transit Center to Forest Grove and travel through Aloha, Hillsboro, and Cornelius along the way.
Advisory Committee
Managed by TriMet, the Tualatin Valley (TV) Highway Transit & Safety Project is moving from broadly defining the route and station locations to exploring more detailed designs such as station footprints and transit priority elements, bike lane and intersection treatments. The project is recruiting a Community Advisory Committee (CAC) to provide insight and feedback as the project is refined through the design process.

Estimated Timeline:
- Design Phase: November 2025 - early 2028

- The new line is currently scheduled to begin service in fall of 2030
