Media release

Anglers of all ages—mark your calendars! The Hagg Lake Fishing Tournament returns for its fourth annual event on May 9, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at 50250 SW Scoggins Valley Road, Gaston, OR. Hosted by Washington County Parks and supported by local partner Get Hooked, this family-friendly tournament promises a full day of fun on the water.

Beginning at 8:00 a.m., participants are invited to cast their lines anywhere on the lake, from shore or by boat. Fishing continues until noon, followed by judging and an awards ceremony at 1:00 p.m. Prizes will be awarded in youth and adult categories for the following fish species: trout, brown bullhead, bluegill, crappie, and perch.

Last year’s event drew more than 300 participants. While friendly competition is at the heart of the tournament, its larger mission is to build community, educate participants about the diverse fish species in Hagg Lake, and promote outdoor recreation.

Registration is required. Individual entry is $10, or $20 for a household group of up to four people. A fishing license is required for all participants ages 12 and older; licenses can be purchased through the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife.

This event is made possible thanks to the support of community partners and volunteers, including Get Hooked, Rods and Reels in Need, and the Oregon Department of Fish & Wildlife. Special thanks to our prize sponsors: Trout Tickler Tackle, Next Adventure, Fisherman’s Marine & Outdoor, and Shake.bu Fishing Club.
