Murder-Suicide Leaves Three Dead

On Wednesday, November 16, 2022, just after 8:00 p.m., Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a domestic disturbance call on the 23000 block of SW Scholls Ferry Road in unincorporated Washington County.

When deputies arrived, they found two people deceased outside the home and one person with life-threatening injuries from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Carlos Jimenez-Vargas, 46, was transported to a hospital, where he later died.

Detectives from the Violent Crimes Unit were called to investigate the incident. During the investigation, detectives learned that Jimenez-Vargas shot two people during an argument before killing himself.

The investigation is ongoing, and Jimenez-Vargas' family was notified of his death.

Members of the Violent Crimes Unit are called upon to investigate serious violent crimes such as homicides, suspicious deaths, adult sexual assaults, kidnappings, robberies, extortion, serious assaults, elder abuse, and missing persons.
