Climate Justice for Generations

On Wednesday, February 22, 2023, in celebration of United Nations World Day of Social Justice, Washington County’s Office of Sustainability will host a virtual panel discussion entitled Climate Justice for Generations.

Local leaders will discuss the importance of climate justice, the work they are doing to reduce the impacts of climate change on marginalized communities and share ways to get involved in the climate justice movement.

Panelists include:

• Debby Garman, Team Leader for 350 Washington County,  a local chapter of the worldwide climate action group, 350.org.
• Mariana Valenzuela, Director of Community Partnerships & Advocacy for Centro Cultural
• Leah Gulik & Emily Yarvis, Co-Presidents of the Sunset High School Climate Change Club

Washington County’s Sustainability Specialist, Carolina Martins, will provide opening remarks on climate justice and set the stage for the discussion.
