To report a problem or submit a complaint to Code Enforcement, you will need to provide some important details about the potential violation.
- Address for potential violation
- Nearest cross street or landmark
- A description of the violation
- When did the problem start, or when did you first notice it?
- Can the problem be seen or heard from a public road?
- Where is the best place to see or hear the problem?
Optional information
- If the problem cannot be seen or heard from a public road, does Washington County Code Enforcement have permission to access your property to investigate the complaint?
- Your address, phone, or email address in case the Code Enforcement Officer needs to follow up.
Step by step instructions
You can file a complaint directly in our code enforcement system. To track the status of your complaint you will need to create an account.
Step A: Click on the "Code Compliance" section.
Step B: Click on "Create a Record," review the “General Disclaimer,” and click “Agree”.
Step C: Click on “Continue Application” to be redirected to the complaint submission portal.
- Step 1: Enter your complaint details on the “Complainant” tab. Note: Skip this step to stay anonymous
- Step 2: Enter the location of the potential violation on the “Address” tab.
- Step 3: Enter the details of the complaint. Click on “Add a Row” and pick a complaint type from the drop-down menu. Select “noise concern," "garbage accumulation or illegal dumping," or "overgrown grass or weeds."
- Step 4: Upload supporting documents, like photos, on the “Documents” tab. Note: This step is optional.
- Step 5: Verify your complaint details and click “continue.”
- Step 6: You will get a unique record number for your complaint, and the case will be sent to the appropriate code enforcement staff for investigation.
Step D: A code enforcement officer will only contact the person who made the complaint to clarify details or to ask for permission to enter private property. This usually happens when the issue can only be seen or heard from that person's property.
