Memory Café provides a welcoming and supportive environment for those with Alzheimer’s Disease, dementia and memory loss, as well as their caregivers.

Registration is now open for Buried in Treasures, a 16-week series to help people with their compulsive acquiring, saving and hoarding. The classes take place on Tuesdays, 2-4 p.m., from September 3 through December 17, 2019, at Juanita Pohl Center, 8513 SW Tualatin Road. The program is for adults of any age.

The 15th annual Washington County Family Caregiver Conference will take place on Friday, November 16, 2018, from 9 a.m.–2:30 p.m., at Tuality Health Education Center, 334 SE 8th Ave, Hillsboro. This free conference is for unpaid family caregivers of older adults. Space is limited, and registration is required.

Washington County Disability, Aging and Veteran Services, in partnership with VFW Post 2666 and American Legion Post 6, invites the public to a Memorial Day ceremony on Monday, May 28. The event takes place at the Veterans Memorial Gateway, located at the corner of NE 34th Avenue and Veterans Drive in Hillsboro. The official ceremony starts at 1 p.m.

Washington County Disability, Aging and Veteran Services is partnering with master storyteller Paul Iarrobino on a special storytelling project. Mr. Iarrobino has spent six weeks coaching older adult storytellers who will share their accounts of resilience, courage and risk-taking during two performances in May.

Participants will learn how to reduce personal stress, communicate their needs effectively in challenging situations, deal with difficult emotions, and make tough caregiving decisions

Registration is open for a six-week series called Powerful Tools for Caregivers that begins February 1, 2018.

Trained staff will administer the memory screenings and provide educational materials about memory concerns, brain health and caregiving.

Registration is open for a six-week series called Powerful Tools for Caregivers that begins September 7, 2017.

Washington County Disability, Aging and Veteran Services and Tuality Healthcare have been sponsoring Powerful Tools for Caregivers, a six-week in-person education program, for many years. This fall, they are offering a class for people who are unable to attend the class in person. Caregivers will be able to participate in the class at home using their own computer and internet connection.
