At their business meeting on Tuesday, April 22, the Board of County Commissioners issued a proclamation in honor of Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. The proclamation recognizes the many significant contributions made by generations of Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islanders, who enrich our nation and communities.

This year’s theme, " A Legacy of Leadership and Resilience," pays tribute to AANHPI leaders and the resilience of the AANHPI community for their roles in in a variety of fields. Though they faced adversity and challenges, the AANHPI people have historically turned those obstacles into new opportunities for change and public service, paving the way for others while leaving their marks on local history. Regardless of the scope of their individual efforts, together they create a strong weave in our overall community fabric, establishing a solid foundation for future generations to thrive and adapt.
