News article
Release date: 02/06/2018
Sponsored by: Board of Commissioners

In recognition of the men and women from all walks of life that have enriched our country’s culture, traditions and success, the Board of Commissioners has issued a proclamation designating February 1-28 as Black History Month 2018.

The history of the United States of America includes the chronicle of men and women of African ancestry who prevailed with extraordinary courage and faith to build lives for themselves and their families while contributing immeasurably to the strength and character of our nation. Black History Month also pays tribute to the contributions that African Americans have made in their struggles for freedom and equality and deepens our understanding of our shared history.

Read the proclamation.
