The District Attorney's Office, the Sheriff's Office and the Community Corrections Department partner with the court, non-profit organizations and other law enforcement agencies to educate the community about the crime of stalking as well as to provide services to victims of this crime.

The agencies in Washington County focusing on this topic include the District Attorney's Victim Assistance Program, the Sheriff's Office, the Community Corrections Department's Center for Victims' Services, the Domestic Violence Resource Center, the county's Domestic Violence Intervention Council, Legal Aid and local law enforcement agencies.

The Board of Commissioners, on behalf of the county's victims' services providers, the District Attorney, the Sheriff and the Director of Community Corrections, join in asking the Board of Commissioners to proclaim January 2010 as Washington County's Stalking Awareness Month.
