The Department of Health and Human Services requests that the Washington County Board of Commissioners, serving as the Board of Health, join with many other health jurisdictions across the nation in declaring April 6-12, 2015 as NATIONAL PUBLIC HEALTH WEEK.

This 13th annual event is an opportunity to raise awareness about the important role public health plays in protecting people's lives and well-being and to honor staff and community partners who work together to prevent, protect, and promote community health. From tobacco-free environments to clean and safe drinking water and air, from restaurant inspections to improving access to healthy food, public health is all around us –protecting our health by safeguarding the places where we live, work and play and striving to make the healthy choices the easy choice.
