Chairman Brian addressed how the rapidly urbanizing Washington County has emerged as a successful agent in attracting next-generation industries. Employers such as Intel Corporation, Genentech, Inc., and, more recently, SolarWorld have all chosen to locate substantial operations in Washington County within the last decade. But Washington County has also been able to retain existing world-class companies like Nike and Columbia Sportswear. Chairman Brian discussed the attitudes and actions behind these successes and how these activities are informing the county's approach in the current economic climate.
