Announcements

Call for CPO 3 Nominations

  • Chair: Joy Patterson is stepping down after two terms. Thank you, Joy!
  • Steering Committee: Volunteers are invited to fill officer positions.
  • Keep CPO 3 active: Our group has been running every year since 1988!

To keep this community resource available in 2017, nominees will need to step forward soon to take on officer positions, designate leadership (commonly a chair or co-chairs), form a steering committee and receive simple training on running the CPO.

Why Get Involved? What are the Benefits?

Your Community Participation Organization (CPO) for Garden Home, Raleigh Hills and West Slope keeps people informed about matters of local and countywide interest, identifies problems and is a resource for becoming more involved. CPOs are led by members and conduct public community meetings where all are welcome.

CPO 3 can be proud of a long record of remaining active since 1988, thanks to community members volunteering to serve in leadership and steering committee roles. (That's a stretch of 10,501 consecutive days, come this October 20!)

Participating can be exhilarating, fun and challenging. Satisfaction comes when voices have been heard in processes and decision-making, and benefits occur from healthy relationships and communication between people and the organizations serving the community.

Representatives of Washington County and our special service district providers visit with CPO 3 with updates and to discuss a range of topics affecting livability. We cover police and fire, parks and recreation, roads and transportation, emergency/disaster preparedness, public health and human services, and more.

CPO 3 has also provided an objective space for discussion with elected leaders, as well as nonpartisan candidates or ballot measure forums during elections seasons.

Land use remains a vital and ongoing area of interest to a CPO. You can affect change in your neighborhood, learn where to turn to resolve neighborhood disputes, and with patience and commitment, impact county policy and regulations through the annual ordinance process.
