TriMet Considering Cuts to More Than Just Bus and MAX Services

Community members need to speak for the transit services they rely on at TriMet open houses and survey through October 31.
Media release

TriMet has announced plans for deep service cuts starting in November 2025 to rebalance its budget

Upcoming TriMet bus service cuts in Washington County include reduced evening service frequency on Bus 52-Farmington Road/185th Avenue in November, as well as reductions to service frequency on Bus 48-Cornell Road and Bus 76-Hall Boulevard/Greenburg Road beginning in March.

Future cuts in late 2026 and 2027 will be informed by what community members tell TriMet during a survey that runs through the month of October.

While TriMet asks the community to weigh in on “planned bus and MAX service cuts”, they are also considering cuts to funding of community shuttles.

Community Connectors Operated by Ride Connection are at Risk

People who rely on community shuttles might not realize that these County shuttles — operated by Ride Connection — could be affected by the TriMet service cuts.

These shuttles are funded by Washington County in large part with TriMet dollars.

Community Connectors are free shuttles in areas where other transportation options may be limited. They aim to fill underserved areas in the larger public transportation systems.

At-risk county shuttles include:

  • BethanyLink
  • CorneliusLink
  • GroveLink
  • King City Link
  • North Hillsboro Link
  • Tualatin Shuttle

Cutting funds to these services puts our most vulnerable community members, including seniors, people with disabilities and low-income residents, at risk. For many, these shuttles are their only means of transportation to get to school, work, shopping, medical appointments, or to reach the nearest TriMet connection.

Participate in TriMet’s Survey

Now is the time to speak up for the transit services you rely on by attending an open house and taking the TriMet Service Priority Survey through October 31.
