Scott named Land Use & Transportation Public Affairs and Communications Manager

Lauren Scott has been named Public Affairs and Communications Manager of Washington County Department of Land Use & Transportation (LUT) effective Sept. 15.

Scott will serve as LUT’s media liaison and will lead communications and outreach strategies for all internal and external communications programs and projects. She will supervise a team of six, including two graphic artists and four communications professionals who serve the department's five divisions.

Scott most recently served as a Public Information Officer at the City of Hillsboro, where she led communications strategies and public outreach initiatives. She also managed high-impact projects as the Community Engagement Coordinator for the City of Tigard.

“Lauren brings a great deal of communications experience to her new role with Land Use & Transportation,” said Stephen Roberts, LUT Director. “She has developed relationships with agencies, organizations and other jurisdictions, thanks to her previous local government experience here in Washington County. She is an excellent addition to our department and the County team.”

Scott replaces Melissa De Lyser, who has served as the LUT Public Affairs and Communications Manager since 2015 and is retiring Jan. 2, 2026.
