Four public works organizations to host job fair Nov. 2

Looking to begin a career in public works? Work for Public Works, a multi-agency job fair, will be 10 a.m.–2 p.m. Nov. 2, Washington County Walnut Street Center, 1400 SW Walnut St.

Washington County Department of Land Use & Transportation (LUT), city of Beaverton, Tualatin Valley Water District and Clean Water Services are partnering to assist anyone interested in public works positions, including road crew and utility worker positions. No experience is required.

“Our goal with this recruitment fair is to bring together an assortment of agencies so those who are looking to work in the public sector can get a first-hand look at the different programs,” said Todd Watkins, Manager, LUT Operations and Maintenance Division. “We hope the participants will walk away with a better understanding how these agencies serve the public.”

During the event, participants will meet representatives from all four organizations and create personalized job search accounts, which can notify applicants whenever relevant jobs become available.

In addition, current employees from all four organizations will be available in the Washington County maintenance yard to talk about the equipment and share their experiences within public works.

“This recruitment fair is more than just filling positions,” said Watkins. “We want to display public works to our community as a career path for those who want to serve the public and to make Washington County a better place to live.”
