Several Arrested in Organized Retail Theft Mission

On Friday, December 8, 2023, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office collaborated with asset protection personnel from Target and conducted an organized retail theft mission at the Target store at 10775 SW Beaverton Hillsdale Highway near Beaverton.

On Friday, December 8, 2023, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office collaborated with asset protection personnel from Target and conducted an organized retail theft mission at the Target store at 10775 SW Beaverton Hillsdale Highway near Beaverton.

During the mission, detectives from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office Property Crimes Unit and patrol deputies found people engaging in various deceptive and fraudulent practices inside the store.

Investigators believe their uniformed and plainclothes presence at the store successfully deterred theft. Asset protection personnel and law enforcement officers contacted multiple suspected shoplifters throughout the day.

Investigators made the following arrests during this mission:

  • Anthony P. Nguyen, 37, of Beaverton, for Theft II;
  • Brent T. Arbogast, 35, of Tigard, for Driving while Suspended – Misdemeanor;
  • Amanda P. Jorgensen, 25, transient, for Theft II and a warrant for Contempt of Court;
  • Michael R. Schmidt, 41, transient, for Criminal Trespass I.

Washington County Sheriff’s Office patrol deputies and detectives will continue to partner with store loss prevention staff on future missions to deter criminal activity inside retail establishments in our county.
