Media release

On Thursday, December 29, 2022, at about 10:50 a.m., Washington County Sheriff's Office deputies were dispatched to an injury crash near NW Bethany Blvd and NW Claremont Dr.

Witnesses reported that a 2022 blue Ford Mustang ran a stop sign and crashed into a blue 2010 Toyota Prius. Deputies arrived and found that the driver of the Prius was trapped inside due to the impact. Upon speaking with the driver of the Mustang, deputies developed suspicion that he was under the influence of intoxicants and began a DUII investigation.

The driver of the Prius, a 40-year-old woman, was extricated from her car by fire personnel from Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue (TVF&R) and was transported to the hospital with injuries. Taylor Chambers, 21, was detained by deputies and transported by ambulance to the hospital for evaluation. The Crash Analysis Reconstruction Team (CART) responded and is leading the investigation.

After being evaluated, Chambers was transported to the Washington County Jail, where he was charged with the following crimes:

  • assault in the third degree
  • reckless driving
  • recklessly endangering another person
  • driving under the influence of intoxicants

The Crash Analysis Reconstruction Team (CART) is a multi-agency team of specially trained law enforcement officers from the Sheriff’s Office, local police departments, and the Washington County District Attorney’s Office. The team investigates and reconstructs traffic crashes that may result in the prosecution of felony assault or manslaughter charges. The team can also assist with diagramming crime scenes.
