Washington County is pleased to announce that Mark Jennings has been recently appointed Risk Manager. Jennings has served in the Department of Support Services’ Risk Management Division for nearly one year as a Senior Risk Management Analyst, assigned to the Sheriff’s Office. He has been serving as the interim (assistant) Risk Manager for the last several months since the previous Manager was assigned another interim role.

As Risk Manager, Jennings is responsible for integrating the delivery of the County’s comprehensive risk management program, including the management of liability, property and workers’ compensation claims and insurance, safety and loss control programs, and HIPAA compliance. He also provides subject matter expertise to Washington County Departments on risk management related matters.

“The County is extremely fortunate to have a person with Mark’s depth of knowledge leading our Risk Management operations,” said Department of Support Services Director Jack Liang. “Mark is uniquely qualified to manage our efforts to protect the people and properties within the County. His commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion is a valuable addition to our management team as the organization continues to operationalize the County’s Equity Resolution adopted by the Board.”

Jennings has over 20 years of experience in risk management as a claims manager, and most recently held the position of Global Claims Manager for Nike and Uber. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree with a double major in Business Economics and Sociology at Willamette University and holds an Associate in Claims. He also previously served as a volunteer with the Keizer Fire Department for 15 years where he achieved the rank of Lieutenant.

Jennings enjoys sports, concerts and Marvel movies and is a true ‘Sneakerhead’ with a large shoe collection. He also enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife Kristeen, his son Mark and daughter Kendyl, who recently graduated from college and high school, respectively.
