Voters Urged to Mail or Drop Off Ballots Early

Updated Text:

Voters in the City of Hillsboro will receive a supplemental ballot early next week listing the correct candidates running for a seat on the Hillsboro City Council. The Washington County Elections Office sent ballots earlier this fall erroneously listing Brenda S. McCoy as a candidate for City Council Ward 2, Position A. Ms. McCoy withdrew her candidacy for the city council seat on August 28 before ballots were printed and mailed.

To address the error, Washington County received approval from the Oregon Secretary of State's Office to print and send a supplemental ballot to every Hillsboro voter. Hillsboro voters should begin receiving their supplemental ballots and an explanatory letter early next week. Only the Ward 2, Position A, race will be listed on these supplemental ballots; no other candidate or measure is affected.

Hillsboro voters should complete every other portion of their original ballots and mail them to Washington County Elections, 3700 S.W. Murray Boulevard, Beaverton, OR 97005, or drop them off before 8 p.m. on November 4 at an official ballot collection site. If voters have already sent their ballots, their votes for every other race and measure will still be counted. Nonetheless, all Hillsboro voters must complete and send the supplemental ballot in order for their votes on the City Council Ward 2, Position A, race to be counted. Voters are encouraged to drop off ballots at official collection sites -- and not use the U.S. Postal Service -- after October 30.

Voters with questions about the supplemental ballot for Hillsboro City Council Ward 2, Position A, may contact the Washington County Elections Office at (503) 846-5800 or [email protected]
