Supplemental Ballots Sent for Hillsboro City Council Race

Hillsboro voters should begin checking their mail boxes today or tomorrow for a supplemental ballot listing the correct candidates running for a seat on the Hillsboro City Council.

The supplemental ballots were mailed to every registered voter in Hillsboro after the Washington County Elections Office sent ballots earlier this month erroneously listing three candidates for City Council Ward 2, Position A, when only two candidates should have been listed.

The supplemental ballot applies to Hillsboro voters only and no other candidate or measure in Washington County was affected by the error.

Each voter in Hillsboro should complete and return both their original ballot and the supplemental ballot. Votes cast for every candidate and measure on the original ballot will be counted, except those cast for Hillsboro City Council Ward 2, Position A. Only votes cast using the supplemental ballot will be counted for the Hillsboro City Council race. Both ballots must be returned to the Washington County Elections Office by 8 p.m. on November 4.

All Washington County voters are encouraged to drop off completed ballots in signed envelopes at official collection sites – and not use the U.S. Postal Service – after October 30. In Hillsboro, these official drop sites include:

  • Hillsboro Main Library – 2850 N.E. Brookwood Parkway, Hillsboro
  • Washington County Charles D Cameron Public Services Building – 155 N. First Avenue, Hillsboro
  • Hillsboro Shute Park Library – 775 S.E. 10th Avenue, Hillsboro

A full list of official ballot drop sites is available at the Elections Office website at:
