Schlueter Named Government Relations Manager for Washington County

 

Washington County Administrator Robert Davis announced today that Jonathan Schlueter has been appointed government relations manager with the County Administrative Office. Schlueter will begin his new job on September 4, 2012.

Schlueter has been the executive director of Westside Economic Alliance (WEA) since 2004. The non-profit organization representing both the public and private sectors advocates for a healthy economic environment on the Westside of the Portland metropolitan region. Prior to joining WEA, Schlueter served for 20 years as executive vice president of the Portland-based Pacific Northwest Grain and Feed Association representing 230 agri-business companies throughout the states of Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Montana.

Schlueter has also been involved with several organizations focused on community, social and environmental issues and initiatives, including service on the Workforce Investment Board for Multnomah and Washington Counties, the Tualatin River Watershed Council, the Washington County Homelessness Plan Advisory Committee, Washington County Community Housing Fund and the Washington County Fairgrounds Advisory Committee.

"Jonathan is well known and highly regarded within the public, non-profit and private sectors of Washington County," said Robert Davis, county administrator. "He has significant experience and knowledge about the challenges facing our community and the collaborative approach we have taken to address them. We look forward to having Jonathan as a part of our team."

Schlueter earned bachelor's degrees in both political science and speech communications from Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon. He has lived in Washington County for the past 38 years, and currently resides in Beaverton with his wife and two sons.

The Washington County government is an organization of 1,762 full-time-equivalent employees serving a population of 536,370 residents with a mission to provide excellent and cost-effective services that support healthy, peaceful, safe and sustainable communities; and encourage meaningful participation in community activities and county governance. Washington County has an adopted, all-funds budget of $716.8 million for 2012-2013.
