Light Rail Use Encouraged for Fairgoers

With attendance numbers going over 100,000 during its four-day run last year, one factor has become clear:  Light rail is an outstanding option for getting to and from the 2012 edition of the Washington County Fair, presented by EG Metals.

"We not only had more people who came to the fair last year," says Fair Marketing and Events Manager, Lisa DuPre', "but we noticed they were also staying longer and we didn't see the turnover of parking spaces in the lots happening at the rate we had seen in the past. While that's great, it did mean that on the weekends we were seeing many of our parking lots at their capacity. As a result, we're encouraging our guests to consider taking advantage of the fact that we have convenient light rail service right to the Fair Complex."  

The Fair Complex/Hillsboro Airport MAX Station is on the Blue Line and fairgoers can get off the train and then board a shuttle bus for a free ride directly to the fair's Main Gate, compliments of Les Schwab Tire Centers. The shuttle service will operate to and from the Main Gate up until 10 p.m. each day the fair is open.  

For those coming from the western part of Washington County, taking light rail to the fair is also an option simply by coming into Hillsboro and accessing the west end of the Blue Line which starts at the MAX station at S.W. Washington & Adams in downtown Hillsboro.  

For those driving to the fair, parking is $5 for a regular vehicle and $10 for an over-sized vehicle or bus. Remember: Admission is free to the Washington County Fair presented by EG Metals.
