Washington County names Liang new chief finance officer

Washington County officials announced the appointment today of Jack Liang as chief finance officer. Liang will come to Washington County after serving as assistant controller with the City of Portland's Bureau of Revenue and Financial Services. His first day with the county will be July 9, 2018. 

Liang has held several accounting- and finance-related positions of increasing responsibility at the City of Portland since 2011. Prior to his service with Portland, Liang worked for different financial and consulting firms in the Portland-metro area. Liang is a certified public accountant (CPA), a chartered global management accountant (CGMA) and holds a bachelor of science degree in business administration from Portland State University.  

Liang will take over from Mary Gruss who recently retired after 26 years of combined public service in the field of financial management with Washington County, the City of Hillsboro and the City of Tigard. 

Washington County's Finance Division manages the organization's accounting and financial systems as well as supporting the process of adopting the organization's $1.2 billion budget. The division is part of the county's Support Services Department with a mission "to provide innovative, excellent and cost-effective services that support county operations and administration, which all contribute to a healthy, safe and sustainable community for Washington County residents."
