County Seeks Input on Transportation Funding Options

Residents of Washington County are being invited to share their views about transportation funding this week through Westside Voices, a web-based tool for the public to provide feedback on various community issues and topics.

Participants who have signed up for Westside Voices at www.joinwestsidevoices.org can participate in the transportation discussion through July 21. Once signed up, participants will be prompted by an email to visit a specific web page and answer questions about how important they feel road maintenance and other transportation needs are in both cities and unincorporated areas.

Westside Voices was recently used to ask residents about library services throughout the county. Future topics may focus on land use, law enforcement, water resources and other matters affecting the community.

Clean Water Services and Washington County partnered to launch Westside Voices earlier this year. Any resident of Washington County over the age of 13 may sign up, whether living in a city, urban unincorporated area or rural community. More than one person may participate in a household.

Participants can join in the discussion at their convenience from home, work or on the go. Individual responses are kept confidential by DHM Research, the independent, non-partisan public opinion research firm operating Westside Voices and its regional companion Opt In. 

Washington County and Clean Water Services intend to post results from Westside Voices surveys on the Westside Voices web site for all participants to see. The findings will also be shared with policy makers at public agencies throughout Washington County. Regional partners conducting their own surveys include Metro, Northwest Health Foundation, United Way of the Columbia-Willamette, and Portland State University's College of Urban and Public Affairs.
