Media release

For Immediate Release: Friday, July 13, 2012

Sponsored by: Health and Human Services Department, Animal Services Division

On Tuesday July 17th, downtown Hillsboro will once again be the place to be for dogs and their people when the Hillsboro Tuesday Marketplace and the Bonnie L. Hays Small Animal Shelter celebrate their annual "Dogs on Parade" event. People are encouraged to bring their friendly, social dogs, but there is plenty of fun to be had even without a canine companion in tow.

The evening's schedule includes:

5:30: Doggie Demonstrations: Watch examples of some awesome teamwork and training including a Washington County K9 officer, 4-H dog obedience club, tricks, and more. While you're watching the demonstrations, sign up for the Dog Parade!

7:00: Dog Parade - You and your pooch can join the parade through the Tuesday Marketplace. It's a fun, short walk and people love to watch the dogs strut their stuff.

7:30: Contests - Dog-Owner Look-Alike, Smallest Dog (over 1-year-old), Largest Dog, Best Trick, Best Costume. GREAT Prizes for first and second place!

Festivities will be emceed by Channel 12's Kimberly Maus.

A donation of $5 is suggested for participating animals, but no one will be turned away for lack of an entry fee. Register early by filling out this form and mailing it in.

Support the shelter and have a great time on Tuesday, July 17th at Hillsboro Tuesday Marketplace!
