Elder Abuse Forum Focuses on Partnership Between Law Enforcement and Banking Industry

The event will focus on working together to develop effective strategies to combat and prosecute financial elder abuse. Case studies will be presented to demonstrate how a team approach can help to successfully prosecute these types of crimes.

Washington County Disability, Aging and Veteran Services (DAVS) is hosting its third annual Elder Abuse Forum on Tuesday, October 11, from 8 a.m.–5 p.m., at the Hillsboro Civic Center, 150 E. Main St.

The event, which is geared toward law enforcement and banking industry professionals, will focus on working together to develop effective strategies to combat and prosecute financial elder abuse. Case studies will be presented to demonstrate how a team approach can help to successfully prosecute these types of crimes.

Speakers include Oregon Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum, Federal Trade Commission Deputy Director Charles Harwood and Washington County District Attorney Bob Hermann.

This free forum is open to the public but is most appropriate for members of law enforcement and the banking industry. Light breakfast and lunch will be served. CLEs, CTEs and DPSSTs will be offered.
