A consortium of advocacy organizations, including Washington County Developmental Disabilities Council, is sponsoring a community forum to discuss creative ways to address Oregon's budget crisis as it affects persons with developmental disabilities.The forum will be held on Monday, April 11, from 6:30 – 9:00 p.m. in the Beaverton City Hall, 4755 SW Griffith Dr., Beaverton.

"Washington County is known for bringing parents, local and state officials, brokerages, schools and service providers together to build innovative models that support community inclusion," says Mary Lanxon, Program Supervisor for Washington County Developmental Disability Services."We must seek proactive solutions in our community to address the housing and service needs of individuals with developmental disabilities," she said.

"This community forum is a unique opportunity to bring a diversity of county skill sets dealing with developmental disabilities," said Gordon Teifel, father of a son with profound developmental disabilities. "Collaborating is a powerful community solution to meeting needs in cost effective ways."

Co-sponsors of the event also include Families for Independent Living, Daytime Enrichment and Recreation, Housing Independence, Self Determination Resources Inc., The Edwards Center, Independence Northwest and Mentor Oregon.
