Exclusion Day is Wednesday, February 15, 2017. Washington County Public Health officials are reminding parents to make sure their children’s immunizations are up to date. Any child without the required vaccinations or an exemption certificate will not be allowed to attend school or child care on or after that day.

“Being up to date on vaccines is the best way to protect your children from diseases like measles, whooping cough and mumps, which has been on the rise this past year,” says Dr. Christina Baumann, deputy health officer for Washington County. “By getting your kids vaccinated, you are also helping to protect the vulnerable among us, like babies and those with weakened immune systems who can’t be immunized.”

Individuals can see their health care provider, go to their school-based health center, or attend one of several immunization clinics taking place the first two weeks of February.
