Several Immunization Clinics Scheduled Across Washington County

Washington County health officials are encouraging parents to make sure their children's (and their own) immunizations are up to date. Individuals can see their health care provider, go to their school-based health center, or consider attending one of several immunization clinics taking place across the county over the next several weeks.

"Being up to date on vaccines is one of the best ways to protect yourself and your children from harmful and potentially deadly diseases like measles and whooping cough," says Dr. Christina Baumann, deputy health officer for Washington County. "Plus, vaccines don't only protect you or your child," she adds. "By getting vaccinated, you are helping to stop the spread of vaccine-preventable diseases in our community. You are protecting the vulnerable among us, like babies and those with weakened immune systems who can't be immunized."

Neighborhood Health Center will hold an immunization clinic on Saturday, October 17, from 9 a.m. –2 p.m. at 17175 SW Tualatin Valley Highway in Aloha. Vaccines for children ages birth through 18 will be available. Flu vaccines may be available, depending on supply. Walk-ins accepted, or schedule an appointment by calling 503-848-5861. Clinic is for those with or without insurance.

Southwest Community Health Center, with support from Washington County Public Health, will hold an immunization clinic on Wednesday, October 21, from 5:30 –8:30 p.m. at 266 W. Main Street in Hillsboro. Free vaccines for uninsured children ages birth through 18 will be available. No flu vaccines. Walks-in accepted, or schedule an appointment by calling 503-846-4417.

National College of Natural Medicine and its NCNM Beaverton Clinic, in conjunction with Washington County Department of Health and Human Services, now offer immunizations. Children and adults can receive no-cost or low-cost vaccines based on family income at NCNM Beaverton Clinic, located at 11975 SW 2nd Street. NCNM Beaverton Clinic accommodates same day or next day appointments. FamilyCare Health is hosting free walk-in flu clinics in Washington County for anyone ages six and older.

• October 26, 9 a.m. –4 p.m., Nature Park Interpretive Center, 15655 SW Millikan Way, Beaverton
• November 7, 9 a.m. –4 p.m., Hmong New Year, 873 NE 34th Ave, Hillsboro
