Bruns named Building Inspector of the Year

A Washington County employee was presented with the 2019 Building Inspector of the Year by the Oregon Building Officials Association (OBOA) during the County Board of Commissioners meeting this morning (Nov. 5).

Dana Bruns, Senior Building Inspector with Washington County Department of Land Use & Transportation (LUT), received the award in recognition of his “example of how a building code professional should interact with business owners, homeowners, contractors, the general public and members of our team.” 

Bruns was nominated by one of his peers and was unanimously selected to receive the award. He has been with LUT’s Building Services section since 2000.

"Dana is highly respected by the contractors and peers they work with in our industry," said Matt Rozzell, OBOA Past President, who presented the award. "It has been noted that others would like to emulate him in their day to day activities and demeanor."

“He’s a great leader, communicator, innovator and problem solver,” said Scott Linfesty, LUT building official. “He’s composed, trustworthy and a top-notch plumbing plans examiner. Dana not only sets the bar for Washington County building inspectors, but for all in the building codes’ profession.”

The OBOA represents building officials and building code professional throughout Oregon. Annually it seeks nominations for individuals who go above and beyond in the building safety profession.

“Dana is knowledgeable, calm, dependable and fantastic working with the development community,” said Andy Back, Planning & Development Services manager. “It’s hard to imagine someone doing their job better.”
