For Immediate Release: Monday, June 08, 2015

Sponsored by: Department of Land Use and Transportation

An open house for both the Brookwood Parkway widening and the Groveland Drive realignment projects will be held from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, June 16, at the Hillsboro Main Library, 2850 NE Brookwood Parkway. The public is invited to learn more about the final designs of both projects; no formal presentation is planned. Dates for the projects have not been set, but construction is scheduled to begin on both projects this summer.

The Brookwood Parkway project includes widening Brookwood between Meek Road and Shute Road to three lanes in each direction with continuous bike and pedestrian facilities. Additional improvements include utility upgrades, street lighting, and traffic signal modifications. Funding is provided through the State of Oregon's Jobs and Transportation Act (JTA) and City of Hillsboro Transportation Development Tax (TDT) funds.

The Groveland Drive project calls for construction of a new two-lane roadway that realigns Groveland Drive starting east of Groveland Road and reconnecting to Helvetia Road at the intersection of Schaaf Road. The project will also replace the substandard culvert on Helvetia Road at Waible Creek. This will require a three-week closure of Helvetia Road. Notification of the closure will be sent out as soon as dates are confirmed. Funding for the Groveland Drive project is provided through the JTA program and the County's Road Capital Program.
