Washington County's Department of Land Use and Transportation invites the public to attend a Meet the Contractor Open House on June 2 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Rock Creek Community Church, 4470 NW 185th Avenue, Portland.

Contractor representatives from Northwest Earthmovers, Inc. and project staff from Washington County, Tualatin Hills Park and Recreation District, and Clean Water Services will be available to provide project information and answer questions. The public will have an opportunity to learn about the construction schedule and view completed design drawings. Construction is scheduled to begin June 6, 2011, with anticipated completion June 2012.

The project will widen 185th Avenue between Westview High School and West Union Road to five lanes (two lanes in each direction and a center lane), upgrade the intersection at 185th Avenue and West Union Road, add bike lanes, sidewalks and streetlights. These road improvements are funded through the Washington County Major Streets Transportation Improvement Program (MSTIP 3C).

The 185th Avenue project also includes some Tualatin Hills Park and Recreation District funded improvements to their Rock Creek Regional Trail (Segment 2) project and Clean Water Services funded upgrades to a section of their sanitary sewer facilities near NW 185th Avenue and NW West Union Road.
